This short film, The Man is the Music, draws us into the imaginative and captivating world of Lonnie Holley, an Atlanta-based artist and musician. A lover of Mother Earth, Holley treasures the discarded and finds healing in the transformative power of art. This short film is not so much a portrait of Holley as it is an experiential reflection on art as a way of life. Holley was raised during the Jim Crow era in Alabama and his work is a product of the environment in which he was raised. He continuously reflects on the impact of being socially discarded and to deal with loss, Holley compulsively creates art. He draws provides us with a unique perspective on what it means to create beauty.
