No Man is an Island
Timoti Karetu, leader of the Maori language revitalization movement, describes how indigenous thought can serve as the conscience of majority cultures. As resources become scarcer, the need becomes greater to relearn a oneness of consideration, mutual care and acceptance.
Timoti Karetu is considered a master of the Maori
language. He was one of the main figures behind the push to revitalize
the Maori language in the 1970's. He is still very active in the
language movement and runs one of the premier language and cultural
programs in Aotearoa New Zealand.
