Complete Interview
Groundbreaking scholar of pre-Socratic philosophy Peter Kingsley emphasizes the sacred role of Western civilization in global oneness. Drawing from his personal experiences with Parmenides and Empedocles: foundational figures of Western civilization whose mystical dimensions have been forgotten or ignored, Peter maintains that to approach oneness authentically, Western civilization must rediscover its own sacred origins and purpose, and asks, how can Western culture participate in the harmony of oneness if it has forgotten its own note?
Kia ora Peter (Greetings)
I couldn't help feeling connected to your interview in reference to the ancient Greek Seers who became your guides in todays world.
As Maori we follow the same principles from our ancient ancestors who left sign posts for us to follow. In addition to this they have been handed down from generation to generation sacred to our world. Unfortunately many of us have become so westernized that we have forgotten those traditional gifts and as a result loss of identity has occurred that has created disharmony as individuals and a collective.
Thankfully our elders and leaders have recognized this and now bringing the traditional ways back into todays world. Thank you for your sharing.
Peter Kingsley works is essential. Highly recommend his book 'Reality'. I found reading this work challenged me and seemed to force me to let go of conceptual 'thinking about' reality and brought me to a place of directly experiencing wisdom. He is speaking directly to the ever present wisdom that is at the heart of all spiritual paths and offering us the much needed guide posts to discovering this for ourselves.
