Groundbreaking scholar of pre-Socratic philosophy Peter Kingsley emphasizes the sacred role of Western civilization in global oneness. Drawing from his personal experiences with Parmenides and Empedocles: foundational figures of Western civilization whose mystical dimensions have been forgotten or ignored, Peter maintains that to approach oneness authentically, Western civilization must rediscover its own sacred origins and purpose, and asks, how can Western culture participate in the harmony of oneness if it has forgotten its own note?

Peter Kingsley's groundbreaking work on the origin of Western spirituality, philosophy, and culture is recognized throughout the world. Through his writings as well as lectures he speaks straight to the heart, and has helped to transform many people's understanding not only of the past but of who they are. The author of three books, including Reality and In the Dark Places of Wisdom, he currently is an honorary professor at the University of New Mexico and also at Simon Fraser University in Canada. Peter Kingsley works is essential. Highly recommend his book 'Reality'. I found reading this work challenged me and seemed to force me to let go of conceptual 'thinking about' reality and brought me to a place of directly experiencing wisdom. He is speaking directly to the ever present wisdom that is at the heart of all spiritual paths and offering us the much needed guide posts to discovering this for ourselves.
