As natural resources become commodities and farming families lose the capacity to fulfill their own basic needs, Medha believes that the consumerist paradigm may end up destroying living communities.

Images and Voices of Hope World Summit

We've just returned from the 9th annual Images and Voices of Hope summit in the Catskill Mountains, where we screened some of our short films and met other filmmakers, artists and journalists who are committed to using media for world benefit. IVOH is an international conversation about the impact of images and stories on people, families, communities, cultures and the world.

Some of the highlights from the screenings include: One Water, a beautiful and powerful film about the state of potable water on the planet; and madmundo TV, an interactive citizen journalism project with a mission to generate a new interest in international current affairs.

It was also wonderful to connect with other people working in global media, like Georgia Popplewell (above right), co-managing editor of Global Voices Online, a worldwide community of bloggers (definitely a 'oneness' news source). The t-shirt Hannah is wearing was designed by another young woman at the summit, Somy Ali. Proceeds support her non-profit organization, No More Tears. ...Read more
